By mid May vetch is usually 3ft tall and at its best. Mow it down and plow under the same day and plant anything the next day. The high nitrogen in the plant allows it to quickly decompose without competition with newly planted crop... Bob.

Any suggestions of later vegetables to plant after hairy vetch.  I'm hoping to mow in early to mid May, till in a few weeks later and plant by early June on the vetch plot.  Zone 5b, South Central Michigan.       _______________________________________________ Market-farming mailing list Market-farming AT lists.ibiblio.org http://lists.ibiblio.org/mailman/listinfo/market-farming
