Michael,

Various sources mention good results with tomatoes after hairy vetch or with a hairy vetch mulch. I've had success growing a cover of cereal rye (10%) and vetch (90%) and tilling in green mid-May (zone 5) and planting transplants in 14 days later. I'm looking forward to working with a roller/crimper to progress this towards an organic no-till approach.

Here are some interesting articles:

Any suggestions of later vegetables to plant after hairy vetch. I'm hoping to mow in early to mid May, till in a few weeks later and plant by early June on the vetch plot. Zone 5b, South Central Michigan.
