Given that you plan to expand, I'd go with the G.  It is a very desirable item on vegetable farms.  Allis parts can be harder to find and expensive but my experience (with an AC model B) is that they are very reliable tractors.  I would not put any weight to the belly mower for the G or the sickle bar mower.  Once you get your cultivation system set up on the G, or the Cub, you'll want to leave it on so that you can get out to cultivate at a moments notice.

Does anyone have experience on both a Cub and a "G"?  The scenario is that I've got an option to buy either one;  the cub comes with cultivators and a sickle bar in a rusty heap, although the tractor runs great, and has a hydraulic lift for belly mounted stuff. The Allis Chalmers "G" comes with cultivators set up, and a belly mower which worked fairly recently. It also allegedly runs good, although the first time I went to see it the owner couldn't get it to start (he did come by the next day and tell me it's running good now).  The Cub is $1500, the "G" is $3,000.  I currently have 2 acres in vegetables, and am looking to expand to 5 acres soon, after which I would need to start looking for land to lease before I can expand further. So far we have used our 4x4 Ford 1720 with front loader to do all the garden work, and we haven't tried any cultivating with it yet, but I'm pretty sold on the idea of belly mounted cultivators...  I would love any input on these two options, pros or cons.  By the way, I have looked in to the electric conversions of "G"s, and I love the idea, although not the price tag. I plan to primarily use this for cultivation, and probably potato hilling and digging. Thanks for any info you might have.
