Black provides significant soil and air warming around the plant. White will
keep soil cooler but will reflkect light back onto foliage. They have very
different effects on plants because they respnd very differently to a primary
plant input; light. Your observation, Phil, makes sense when you think about
different requirements of different plants. Some like it hot, some like it
cool.
