Yes! Pedicures!!!  I do it every 2 or 3 weeks and it is well worth the dollars; having someone massage my feet after they've soaked in a bubbling bath with nice-smelling stuff in the water...can't beat it for rejuvenation!  Around here there are specials early in the week so that's when I go.  I also schmear some heavy duty ointment on my feet before putting on my socks to try to keep the heel cracks to a minimum.

I'm still wearing the old birkies but I haven't been happy with them for a long time.  I find it annoying to spend $35 for the foot beds at least once a year.  I may try some of the shoes you gals have mentioned.  Thanks!  This issue is a huge drain on my energy.

I have a high arch and the Keen's do give good support.  And yes, dirty feet.  I have a pumice stone in the shower, but hey, we're farmers...I've got dirt under my finger nails, too.

I met a farmer down near Austin Texas.  She said she stops and gets a pedicure on the way home from her Saturday market every couple weeks to keep the feet in better shape.  What a luxury!  But...I've been cogitating on doing that for myself.
