Right, don't bait them.  They'll run in because it's what they do and bump into a trap while they're there.  I noticed one trap is in front of the hole so presumably if it doesn't get trapped on the inside it gets it on its way out.  As long as the little monsters get it, I don't care.

Sunday took down a low tunnel and found a zillion vole runs and several full heads of pac choy chewed off at the base. Now at least there is no cover for the voles and the dogs and hawks can get at the buggers. 

I believe we have several wooden boxes that would fit the bill for good vole traps. IIRC Coleman says NOT to bait these traps.
