Greetings all, I’m new on this list and rather far away (East Sussex in England!). Topic on seed planters was very useful to me as we are about to buy a couple.

Question. After the first ploughing of the season, where a mix of grass and cereal stubble was turned under by a local farmer with a tractor, do you think that a two-wheeled tractor with a harrow attached could deal with the big ridges and furrows to prepare a seed bed? We want to try and manage with a two-wheeled tractor for all our mechanised work, thinking that the bigger 4-wheeled machines are too heavy and too expensive on fuel, but I have doubts that the likes of Ferrari would be up to the job. Any advice and links to your recommended manufacturers would be appreciated.

Here’s the state of our soil now: http://www.namayasai.co.uk/Farm/Isfield.htm

Tx. Robin.
