I use hairy vetch in sweetcorn as a cover crop and as a primary nitrogen
source. I have always needed to supplement an extra 50 pounds of N/Acre as
sidedress depending on the quality of the vetch stand. Must be seeded in
September in PA no later. Plow down no later than two weeks before seeding
corn. As you can guess vetch doen't work well on April corn... Bob.
