Rivka,
I grow planter boxes of culinary ginger and turmeric - an un-natural
act for the tropicals in Zone 6. each winter, after being brought in,
they slowlybecome pekid, and almost die back. Come warmth and the move
outdoors, they spring forth with vigor and bigger size. Since we live
quite a way from stores that carry it, we keep it on hand for friends,
family, and customers who need a piece now and then.
Since moving to this zone from z-9, i have never had it come to bloom,
but do grow healthy and large enough rhizomes to make it worthwhile.
