interestingly, Oct 3 2007 Wal Street Journal, front page:
"Wal-Mart Era Wanes Amid Big Shifts in Retail"
Rivals find strategies to defeat low prices; world has changed
apparently there is now a flight to quality and smaller local shops can provide that more deftly than can the big loss leader offering retail titan

In short, they ruin small towns. I/we have seen numerous small family
stores and shops close after Walmart (and now Super Walmart) came here.
When Sam was alive, they carried US made products almost exclusively. Now
that he is dead, and the children are among the richest people in the WORLD,
the products are almost exclusively made outside the US.
Their money is swept to Arkansas every night at midnight. The only thing
they do is provide low-paying jobs.
Not to mention, all the closed Walmart's after building Super Walmart's.
Yes, we have a huge white elephant here, they cannot or will not lease/sell.
