Small Acreage Farming Course Enrolling Now for Fall



Moscow, ID. - Learn the basics of small scale farming in this
interactive, hands-on course offered to community members and academic
students in the Moscow/Pullman area.



This 14 week course is designed for beginning farmers and for current
producers who are interested in taking their farm in a new direction.
Participants will have the opportunity to analyze potential enterprises
and marketing alternatives, learn from local, innovative farmers and
ranchers and research and develop their own Whole Farm Management Plan.
Guest speakers share their real world experience, and farm tours offer
the opportunity to see principles in practice. Students gain access to
resources specific to sustainable production practices, direct marketing
techniques and other critical aspects for small farm success

Direct Marketing
Enterprise Assessment
Sustainable Crop Production
Ecological Soils Management
Integrated Pest & Weed Management
Sustainable Livestock & Poultry
Grazing Mgmt. on Small Acreages
Equipment & Facilities
Enterprise Budgets
Tools for Whole Farm Success





This class begins Monday, August 28 and will meet weekly through
December 11 from 5:30 - 6:30 pm on the University of Idaho campus.



Cost for community members is $160, which includes the cost of a
comprehensive 500 page resource handbook. CEU credit is available for an
extra fee. Need-based scholarships may be available. Academic students
at University of Idaho or Washington State University may take the
course for academic credit and pay regular for-credit course fees.
