Ken:
I am South and East of Nashville. We put in an orchard of cherry trees this Spring. Around 2nd weeks of June we were bombarded with beetles. The Beatles would fly into the trees and eat the leaves in a circular fashion. The beetles would continue eating until the leaves were just skeletons. I started looking around at some of the trees in our near by woods and saw the beetles their too. They are very destructive. We came to the conclusion that they were the Asian Beetle. Do you know is there a difference between the Asian Beetle and the Japanese Beetle ? The beetle are psychedelic in color (a florescent blue/green and brown). They did not get in our acres of asparagus just the cherry trees. We were able to spray the cherry trees before the beetles got out of hand.
The spray we used (pesticide)i s called Carbyl. The Carbyl just wiped them right out and the larvae in the soil too. There is two kinds of Carbyl. I don't have the name with me of which one we used. We purchased it at White County Co-op in Sparta Tn. The Carbyl is sold in large bags. We broke it down to 2 tablespoons to 2 gallons of water. The instructions on how to use the Carbyl are easy to follow. It is very reasonably priced. If you should use it be sure and follow the directions and wear safety gear.
Sincerely,
Rose
