a neighbor has a row of asparagus his parents planted a long time ago. it's
still there among the weeds and grass in the field, but has basically been
growing "wild" for the last 15 or so years. he said i can have all i want.
can i transplant any of this to my garden now, or should it wait until fall?
the spears are delicious, but very thin for the most part. a few here and
there are thicker. i usually only take a handful at a time, which is enough
for a treat every other day. i also have the option of just weeding and
mulching it where it is. would that produce better results?
