Hi All,
I grow many kinds of pole beans, and use t-posts 10 feet apart, with
no problem. I also use the angled posts at the ends - but only on heavier
things such as tomatoes. In 4 years, none of the bean poles have shifted
under the weight of the vines, even tho i grow them in raised berm beds.
The wire atop and bottom sounds good. Thus far, i have been
double-twining across the tops and once below. I would worry a bit about
tying twine onto the young beans in areas of wind or heavy rains - they
are so delicate at first.
These days, i grow about 9-13 types of pole beans and only a few bush
beans. The over-age-50 backside of me says that is how it should be now
;-)
Good growing,
Toni
