> We had a long discussion last year about Yellowjackets, also called meat
bees. By the end of the thread the consensus seemed to be that the most
effective way to deal with these extremely distructive pests was to put
out traps in the spring with meat bait. This, in theory, traps the
females and reduces the overall population by thousands. Does anyone out
there know about the life cycle of yellowjackets? When exactly would be
"in the spring". Is there a certain temperature when they come out of
hibernation? Is there any other preventative measures to take
beforehand? These guys not only stung us all terribly every day but
also wiped out easily 25% of my raspberries last year.
thanks.....Sora at Paradise Valley Organics zone 5
