You might consider the decking made from recycled shopping bags and milk cartons and reclaimed hardwood sawdust - the original one was called Trex Lumber but now there are others available in the home improvement stores. It does not break down like lumber. http://www.trex.com/
Just hoping someone has run across a source for the new (less toxic) pressure treated wood in the southeast USA. The university's medicinal plant garden (where I work) is NOT certified organic (go figure) but open to using less toxic stuff, and I need to build new raised beds.......
