I am having the same problem in Northern Illinois. (There is a magnolia tree blooming down the street) Cover your lilies with a light layer of straw or other reflective-colored mulch to keep them as cool as possible and stop worrying.  The lilies should be fine even if /when the temperature drops very low again.  For future years remember that mulches in the winter even out the freeze/thaw cycles...any light colored material that you have on hand will help to keep the perennials cold and discourage breaking dormancy too soon.

With daylight hours increasing and mild temperatures, many species are confused, but lilies are very hardy and can handle frequent extreme temperature fluctuations.

For the past two weeks the temperatures in my area have been in the upper forties. Our lilies have all sprouted and there is about one inch of growth. In our area the temperature goes down to the teens in February. What can I do to protect my lilies?
