The type doesn't really matter. I was just looking to use the wood for something other than firewood. The trees will start falling over soon and will have to be cut up anyway.

So, how do you grow Morels? :)

Morels are supposed to like elms. Why not get some morel spores and try
growing them. They're way better than shittake.

Probably not. The key seems to be the first fungus in wins so you
need to
cut live trees while the sap in down so your spawn gets dug in first
..
