Not very similar, no. The garden huckleberries are in the
Solanum genus, ground cherries are in the Physalis genus.
They're related, but not all that closely - not only
different species, but also different genera (although
they're related genera).
The garden huckleberries have small blue/purple/black
berries and no husk.
Ground cherries are a bit larger, and have husks. They are
(at least the ones I've seen) yellow-ish or orange-ish in
color.
