Title: separating 5-gallon buckets
It seems that typically there is a bit of vacuum in the space between the
two buckets. These tricks of using water or compressed air blown down
between the buckets breaks this vacuum enough to pull the buckets apart.
You might try heating them up to get that air in between the buckets to
expand. Leaving them out in the sun on a warm day might be enough to get
them together. Or maybe pouring a pan of hot water over them would help get
them apart. It could be that a little water run down along the seam will
act like a bit of lubricant to get them to slide a little easier.
