There are some great native perennial species that will do great in wet spots - I'm familiar with KY - but I'm sure may of these are native in Missouri and would be available a native plant nurseries:Foxglove beardtongue, Sneezeweed, Blue vervain, Swamp milkweed, Hardy ageratum, and Water plantain.
