I watched a news report today about independent truckers considering a
strike. They cannot compete with larger trucking firms since NAFTA. The
entire report was geared to :"What you are eating this morning probably was
trucked to the stores where you bought it."

Well, what a promotion opportunity! All we have to do is encourage
customers to want their food grown and produced within 100 miles too.

Sounds like a great ad campaign: "Eat food grown within 100 miles for the
freshest foods that support your local economy. Stop supporting
corporations and start supporting rural towns!!"

Independent truckers would do well as the increase of local foods would
demand an increase in short haul trucking (feed, equipment, fertilizer,
etc). The big trucking companies couldn't afford to take on the short
hauls/smaller loads. Win-win!!

"Did you know most local foods are produced with feed and supplies grown or
produced within 100 miles of ____(your town/city)____? Stop supporting
corporations with your hard-earned dollars! Buy local farm goods and
services to support local businesses."

***I raise stock on feed grown .1/2 mile to 100 miles from my farm. This is
why I chose "100 miles" for the examples. (I even use fertilizer produced
within this mileage.***
