Though I haven't done it, I'm "pretty sure" the stick planter sold by
Johnny's will work through plastic. Unless the plastic is very tight,
I'm not sure that the germinated seed will find it's way through the
small hole the seeder will make. I described the seeder here in quite
a bit of detail a few weeks ago. It does have a hopper that holds 1-2
cups of seed.

I planted about 1/2 acre of green peas a couple a weeks ago; the seeder
worked pretty well. However, it looks like birds found almost all of
the peas. Next time, we will make more of an effort to get the seeds
covered and packed in.

I had occassion to use my Glaser seeder for the second time yesterday;
it worked much better in moist sandy soil than in dry.
