Hi all,
Happy New Year.
I've stopped looking at compost as a nitrogen source - I think of it as a source of potassium primarily and use nitrogen fixing legumes as a cover crop to boost nitrogen: red clover, field peas....In rotation these provide very significant levels of nitrogen to the succeeding crops. Its nice to see that we can now get organic cover crops and gmo-free rhyzobium innoculants to boose nitrogen fixation on new fields where clovers/peas/beans haven't grown before.
