Hi!
I agree with your advice on this being a cool year makes a big
difference, Coming to KY from an arid area where eggplants thrived in
the heat and always produced was a spoiling factor to me in trying
eggplants in this climate ( similar to yours, i believe). My experience
here is that they came into fruition far later than i was accustomed to -
even in the warmer and dryer seasons in this fickle climate! It just may
be this particular year. Around here, even the tomatoes and peppers were
much later for those who don't do raised beds or black plastic mulch.
Tho i have toooo many tomatoes, the heat loving peppers are NOT doing
their thing at all on our farm. Punier peppers, very few coming ready,
and the plants are just now blossoming better with not enough time to
become big, lovely ripe peppers.
Better season to us all next time around, methinks!
