Allan and everyone-

I use silver Tuff Bell cover for growing lettuce in the summer. I read about it in Coleman's Winter Harvest Manual several years ago and called the dealer listed in the back of the book. The dealer didn't really want to sell me such a small amount (100 feet), but I cajoled him into it.

100 feet of this cover was very very expensive and hard to justify, but it has served me well for over 4 years with no rips. It actually keeps the lettuce cooler, if you put your arm under it you can feel the temperature difference.

Laast summer, however, the combination of Tuff Bell and cool, cloudy days was not good at all for the lettuces. There was TOO much shade and it stretched terribly, not much was marketable from some plantings. The lettuce would have been fine without the Tuff Bell. Live and learn.

Lori S.
