I poke holes in bags with an ice pick, or failing that, a sharp barbeque
fork. It works. If you set a pile of bags on a piece of styrofoam or
heavy cardboard on a bench, you can poke away to your heart's
content--it doesn't take more than a minute or so to do ten bags at a
time.
About 20 years ago, I bought perforated bags big enough for 25 lbs of
washed carrots or beets. I can't remember where I got them. But I do
remember that they were expensive relative to unperforated bags.
