SOME newsprint is soy based.  As a chemically reactive person “exquisitely” (as the docs would say) sensitive to petroleum based products, I have my own sometimes dramatic physical evidence that plenty of newsprint still uses non-soy inks.

Newsprint is soy based ink the only paper to stay away from is the glossy colored ads. The colored inks in newspaper are also soy based
