After moving here from the HOT, Central Valley agland of California, i
decided to try celery last year here in eastern kentucky. I was
surprised at how well it went!! I had a whole bed of the stuff and next
to no problems even with the warm, humid climate of this area. Next
experiment was to dig and winter over some plants in the basement. They
are coming back wonderfully in the coolness. Tho i will not be selling
such, as a comercially more toxic sort of produce, i will be growing
enough for the family's needs. I also deshydrate both slices and leaves
for winter use - tho i could also have cut fresh from the plants stored
in the basement. Another successful experiment.........even the prolific
deer population around our farm didn't fancy it last year ( tho with
deer, you never know what they'll choose the next season around!!).
