We can answer that.  We found it our a couple of years ago.  There is a "protected" locust in the state that it might affect.  'Course, the grasshoppers can be sprayed with any kind of chemical, but no bio control allowed. Guess the "protected" species is immune to chemical controls.  If you find a way around it, let us know - those nasty little hoppers are terrible on the lettuce in our tunnels!

Subject: [Market-farming] Nolo bait

I've had occasion in past growing years to use nolo bait in the field, though I have never used it consistently.  Rain hurts its effectiveness and it is, I'm told, somewhat perishable to store.  so, for any number of reasons, several years elapsed between my last use of it and the next attempt to buy.  I found, to my surprise, it is now illegal to ship to KY.  Living in an adopted state I have come to love, but nonetheless noting a certain lack of timeliness in  matters of regulation, ie. a 3cent state tax on a pack of cigs, I found it amazing to learn that I can no longer have nolo bait shipped to me in KY.   In fact, only 25 of 50 states will allow pesticide sellers to ship in nolo bait, a sustainable product that, as I understand it, will only affect grasshoppers.  Since I don' t think the grasshopper is any state's official insect or a protected species, I wonder if anyone knows the logic behind this widespread prohibition?
