Our state department of agriculture has a grant program for farmers markets. Try to find out what the D.C. is eligible for - either within the D.C. government or from the feds. I think D.C. gets special allocations in lieu of being a state. Try the USDA.

We are student attorneys at the American University Washington College of Law Community and Economic Development Clinic. One of our clients is a small farmer's market located in Washington, DC and is currently in the process of obtaining its tax-exempt status. We were wondering if you could either provide us with any additional information not provided on your website or direct us to where we could find information about small grant opportunities for our client. Any help you could provide us would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
