Hi,

I would definately reccommend a tine weeder. I find it a very useful tool for a wide variety of transplanted and large seeded veg, especially on light soils, and especially in spring and early summer.  I try to stick with basket and tine weeders and small hillers as much as possible and try to use sweeps and deep working tools as little as possible .

I haven't used an Einbock but the thing they trumpet as a great advantage, I'm not so sure I would like.  All the tines are moved with one lever, which is quick, but you can't 'fine tune' the cultivator that way, ie. if you set up a Lely or a Williams correctly you can scratch beds with fairly large plants and not do any permanent damage.

I have an IH 140, an AC G and a 3 pt. hitch row crop tractor, so I grow for a CSA and farmers market with similar machinery to what you have, drop me a line if you like.

I would like to modify my Allis-Chalmers G with a belly mount tool bar. Has anyone from this list-serve have any tips and/or illustrations from their attempts of doing such a thing?
Also, this is the year that I want to have our cultivation systems down pat. I am planning on putting a diamond tool bar on my G so that I can quickly place and remove various implements such as knives, discs, and finger weeders on my G. We also have a 720 John Deer (with 3-point equipment) and a Farmall-A (searching for belly mount equipment for this tractor). One of the other cultivators that I was thinking about purchasing this year was an Einbock tine weeder, but I am wondering if the $1800 price tag is worth it. I need all the suggestions I can get in order to develop a cultivation system which will put the best use for our tractors. We are a CSA so we have over 50 varieties of veggies.
