Thanks, Karen.

With my first batch I just followed a recipe. I can experiment after I get
the brewing process perfected. I can't do limes as they give me heart burn.
It is the only food I cannot eat without physical discomfort.

Sassafras is native to our area and I have one recipe for home made root
beer that is similar to the ginger beer, but it is more like a tea. If I
can achieve making home made root beer using sassafras I will be in heaven!

Lemon IS only a flavoring in Ginger Beer. In Dominica, the Ginger Beer has
lime, never lemon. St. Kitts style Ginger Beer uses vanilla, no citrus.
I'd bet a Maple-Ginger (or Birch, Sassafras, etc.) drink would be lovely.

Best wishes,

Karen

Hi, All.

In trying to eliminate health risks such as aspartame and genetically
modified corn syrup which are the sweetening ingredients in most soft
drinks, I am working on a home brewed ginger beer (non-alcoholic) drink. My
first batch is brewing at the moment.

Molasses or honey can be used in place of the sugar in common recipes and
the ginger can be home grown. Lemons are the only caveat to a completely
home grown / home brewed soft drink. I may be able to find something to
substitute for that if I can determine that the lemon is only a flavoring.

Hi Liz,
I drink Pepsi, but if I really have my choice it's Dr Pepper, diet please!

We've been raising rabbits and selling them as frozen reptile food as well
as processing into raw frozen pet food. For those that raise animals the
raw pet food market is a growing one, though it can be confusing lol
