but propane in particular is much cleaner burning than any wood stove."

Agreed that propane burns cleaner, but unless the trees out in the orchard
have quit growing(other than the fact it's winter), wood is quite renewable!
They are now growing pulp trees for paper, just drove past a number of acres
of planted trees today.

We've thought of a oil burning furnace, of course hubby wants to build his
own. Fueled with used motor oil. Our next thing will be a pellet stove in
the house, could also be used to heat a greenhouse I'd think, and they do
come with thermostats. The things are not cheap however. Seems they burn
fairly clean.
