experimenting with beans
We do very well with jade and always grow some bush roma type beans. We also grow Flageolet and Cannelini for a fresh shell bean. This past fall, we had fabulous luck with Pinto beans. The ordinary pinto makes a very good flat green bean, good bean-y flavor. Any that develop seeds can be shelled out. Don't tell anybody, but we planted a 4 pound bag of CASSEROLE brand dry beans from the grocery store! For less than $3, we sold about 15 bushels of beans before the frost got them. That's profit! We sell a lot by the half bushel. Good luck with your experiments.
