They bombed in our house, too. I planted Royalty Purple Pod in the home garden and was quite underwhelmed by them. Snapping them left purple stuff all over my hands; DH thought they just looked "old" when I brought them in the house - not at all "interesting" or "beautiful" as I had hoped. They were stringy, and I vowed never to plant Bush Blue Lake again because of the strings. Our toddlers, who normally gobble up green beans, wouldn't touch the Royalty beans.
They look great in the catalogs, though, don't they?
