why manure can't be used (uncomposted)

the best reason for not using uncomposted manure, horse, especially, is that you get too many weed seeds!  uncrimped oats go right through, as well as lots of other grass seeds.  composting the manure pile for a summer will save a lot of weeding.    it will compost very quickly if you have a rainy, hot summer.  if you can add some chicken manure, it will go all the quicker.

there was a little scrub tree enclosed when we built our chicken yard.  it is now a skyscraper!
