snails and slugs are keenly sought by ducks.
i had ducks for years when we first moved in because i cried when i saw the whole of my young seedlings eaten in just a few nights.
gradually people dogs attacked and killed our ducks and so i figured that i would just keep winged and suspicious poultry such as chickens and geese.
but now, the slug and snail popluation is slowly building.  it is time once again for ducks.
hopefully the ducks will hang out with the geese for protection, i might even try to trick the geese into raising the ducks.  and then by nature the ducks will
start behaving like inverse submarines, their bills searching for slugs and snails under anything they can forage through.

slugs - shallow pans of beer, or ducks

The beer works great for slugs!!  I put the cheapest beer I can find in cheap pie tins throughout the garden and it works wonders!!!!  The pans are over flowing by the end of the day.  And sometimes, it does not take that long!!!!
