Remember Mendel - who did the experiments with the peas?  There are smooth peas and wrinkled peas - so you need to find a variety that is smooth.

How do the wrinkled peas work when reconstituted?  I bet they are good in vegetable soup...

And how do you get those smooth, perfect semi-spherical split peas used for soup?  I tried drying fresh sweet garden peas in a food dehydrator and ended up with tough, yet very sweet, little shriveled up raisin peas.  They end up really small like peppercorns.

I grow sugar snap pea’s, and I can usually tell when they are plump, they are ready.  Not too mention…you HAVE to taste them, of course, before picking just to make sure!!!!!  When I pick them, not many make it in the house.  What I would like to know is, what is the best way to dry the pea’s to use for the next year’s crop?  I have not tried this yet.
