Sorry but I don't remember who asked about this chile. A new member?

I just wanted to add that they are delicious. Also that I was chile hunting
in Mexico this winter and had great luck saving the seeds from the fruit I
thought were particularly good. And my germination rate has been about 95%!
I fell in the love with the Manzano (I believe aka Rocoto outside of
Mexico), not knowing the seeds were fairly easy to get here in the US, but
this chile has had a 100% germ rate. I also had left over some Chiuacle
Negro from a trip to Oaxaca about 3 years ago and I've had about a 50% germ
rate, very good considering they were just hanging out in my pantry. Of
course, it's going to take some time to grow them, get ample seeds, dry
them, etc. but it's worth it- and kind of fun.

I have a small email group called New World Gardening focusing on growing
and cooking native US and Mexican vegetables (although there is some off
topic discussion as well). It's a gardeners group, not a growers group,
really, but we do have a small database that is growing for seed exchange.
If you have extras or want to request something, it might be worth a try.
It's humbling how much some of these people know. There's a wonderful french
woman living in Australia whose knowledge of Mexican horticulture, veggies
in particular, puts me to shame, and I'm somewhat of an expert among my
peers!

If it interets you, you send a mail to
NewWorldGardening-subscribe AT yahoogroups.com

Again, it's a casual, hobbiest kind of group with not too much mail but it
may be interesting.
