Hi Amy,

Greenhouse poly is fine for rollups.  Just use one big piece of poly that goes from the ground on one side to the ground on the other.  Before putting on the poly nail a 1" firing strip on the top side of the 'hip board' that you have clamped to your hoops 2 to 3 feet from the ground.  then put your plastic on the house.  Then nail another 1" firring strip right next to the first one so that you have one firring strip under and one over the plastic--this locks it better than just slapping one firring strip on top of the plastic.  You can use greenhouse purlin pipe for teh rollups.  YOu can either buy clips to attach the plastic to teh rollup pipe or as otheres have suggested, split PVC and use self drilling metal screws to attach the split PVC over teh plastic to the metal pipe.

Hope this helps.

Paul

No one responded to this question so I'll try again:

Dear List,

We are building a hoophouse from salvaged materials and we want to put
roll
up sides on it. One of our salvage projects was a greenhouse-type
enclosure
for a pool that had collapsed due to ice load. It had roll up curtains
made
from a woven semi-transparent white material.

My question is: Should we use the old curtains for the roll-up sides on
our
hoophouse or can we use greenhouse plastic? Does greenhouse plastic
stand up
to the stress of being rolled up and down? The curtains for our new
hoophouse would be about 3ft high by 48ft long on a hoophouse 12x48ft.

Thanks,
Amy K. Johnson
