Amazing the  difference in weather is right... I am frustrated I only started my tomatoes a month ago... they need to be further along, it is high 80's lately here in southern Az.  Cant ever seem to get the seed starting date right myself ;o)

On a side note I am working the farmers markets for the first time this year, all the markets charge $25 for a spot in the market (all outdoors here) and no discount for people wanting a seasonal pass (couse are market's are year around here, however there is no discount for yearly as well)  What is everyone else paying for a spot?  I need to sell a lot of veggi's to make any profit.. sigh...  the owner of the market was telling me that he is opening a new market here soon also, and since it is such a well to do area he will be charging at least $35 for a spot there since we will make so much.. this plus the individual liability insurance makes it hard to make a profit, not to mention that I wont be able to sell my salsa and preserves since I need a certified kitchen to do so, and we dont have any community ones anywhere near me... frustrating and I havent even started selling yet!  hope everyone is having good luck this year :o)

We have started planting pepper, may be a little early. The weather man says
it will be 32 deg. here in the esat Texas area on saturday morning. Looks
like it might be cover up time. Tghe weather has been real good all of the
trees and flowers are blooming. Bill Bradshaw

Bill Bradshaw _______________________________________________ I Planted two rows of potatoes last week. Every day a new row of greens, seven top and turnips. Two rows of beans and a row of squash. Some stuff breaking ground already as the soil has been warm in the days. Problem here in Grand Prairie, Texas is the rain has been unusually heavy so the windows to prepare the soil are very small. The other half acre of garden I have disked once but could not get in to prepare the seed beds before it rained again so it has a good weed crop coming out. I hope to disk it again tomorrow morning or the next day if dry enough. There has been a lot of wind so it may be dry enough. I will roto till for the seed bed as this clay soil is to chunky otherwise. I don't go deep with the tiller but do try to pulverize the top layer a good deal leaving a kind of fluffed up bed to plant in. May be I can get every thing planted in the next few days. Bob C.
