I recently attended a conference sponsored by the UN
Food and Agriculture Organization. One of the keynote
speakers said that studies have shown that an
effective activity to improve marketing capabilities
is the functional equivalent of doubling yields in its
positive effects on farmer income.

Pat,

I second Tom's request! I grow one acre by myself (will expand by 1/2 acre
this year) and could use all the tips I can get for getting it all done. How
about the rest of you? How much are you able to manage with one or two
people total in the market garden?

My husband and I grow and sell 8 acres of produce every year. In addition,
we own a store open 6 days a week, and we have horses, goats, chickens,
dogs, rabbits, pigs and I probably left something out but that is the jist
of it. We do it totally by ourselves. Yes, there are times when our body
gets in the house an hour before our rear end does, but we do it all by
ourselves.

Pat
