Subject: [Market-farming] Greetings From Newbie....

Hello All,
...Just found Market Farming & signed up this week.  So far the list seems quite active!
Since 1989, I have had a small greenhouse operation in E. Wash., specializing in unusual potted herbs, edibles & perennials.   My interest will be in discussing greenhouse growing, farmer's markets, direct sales, advertising, etc.,  and the always - how to improve on all of the above.
The greenhouse is open for sales.  I also do a local farmer's market, and vend at select, single day garden shows.  After a 2 year hiatus, I will be again offering limited, local wholesale.   Making half the money, and having to wait 4-6 weeks for payment can make wholesaling non too appealing!  This year I'm long on some stock, so I'll offer it again.  (Though now it will be COD)  Adding greenhouse grown vegetables to the mix is also bouncing around in my head.
Some questions I have for the group-

Anyone else from  Wash. State, N. Idaho,  or the Pacific Northwest?

Our current farmer's market is planning to expand into a 'Neighborhood Farmer's Market Network.'   Offering weekly markets on a different day of the week in a different neighborhood.  Right now, we are looking at starting with Tues. & Sat.    I have heard this is quite successful in Seattle's neighborhoods.   We are still fine tuning this-
Anyone have any experience setting one up, participating in a multiple market like this, or any suggestions?

I look forward to future discussions (ie: picking your brains).
Thanks a lot-

Patricia Mattson
