About 6 or 8 years ago, I planted a double row of apples and pears
between two sets of vegetable fields. The two rows are about 5 feet
apart and the trees in the rows are ten feet apart. I can't tell that
it does any good; they are probably not dense enough.
I hear that conifers are best at both wind reduction and noise
reduction.
