No plumbing required, let the we don't use any cycle but spin. The drain
hose drains through the wall outside, or in my case just runs on the floor.
The salad mixes are floated in a triple sink through a triple rinse and
dipped out of the sink with a basket from a regular salad spinner or large
colander and dumped into the washer. I usually soak my lettuces for about 5
to ten minutes moving them through the three water tubs. After about two
bushels of mesclun I change the water in sink number one as it gets most of
the real dirt. This method works for hydro cooling, in summer I add ice to
the water in rinse two and three for a more rapid cooling because the produce
is warmer as it goes in the water and raises the overall temperatures faster.
My well water is about 50 degrees not really as cold as the experts require
but since it gets immediately into a 32 degree walk-in afterwards it is
sufficient to make a high quality product possible with an acceptable shelf
life.
