Just planted my hoophouse one day last week and we've had incredible warmth
and accompanying winds so I've keep the end open on the hoophouse - plus
watering it every other day. Now I have a soil crusting problem in there
and need to handle it. Our temps are dropping and will be in the twenties
by later this week - so I won't be opening it again for a little while.
I'll lay remay back over the beds and would it help to water once more
through the remay to soften the crust? I also wondered about a light
covering of vermiculite over the rows before I place the remay back on it.
I doubt there will be much germination with these cold temps but there won't
be any with the crust.
