I know some organic growers use composted poultry manure/litter as a
source of fertilizer for their fields. This report has some
disturbing information on the presence of heavy metals in poultry
litter from poultry fed commercial feeds. The sloils which were
fertilized with this leitter had significantly higher levels of the
metals than did the unfertilized ones. Once again, it looks like we
need to be very careful of the source of our inputs.
