Alison,
It would be great if you sent an account of this meeting to Dr. Scott
Smith, the dean of the college of ag. He is a fairly accessible person who
would at least pay you the courtesy of a hearing. Since you are part of
the "clientele" not a member of the college, your word goes a lot farther
than someone in the college. You've written such a good,
firm-but-courteous letter to the listserv (you thought you were ranting?!),
it would be too bad if no one in power here at UK ever saw it! I think it
would also serve as a heads-up that all the advertising that extension did
was totally ineffective, surely a concern to the dean.
Victoria
PS By the way, the woman would have been Valerie Vantreese? Dark-haired
lady about 45 or so? If so, we also need a letter to the editor of the
Herald-Leader about an editorial that she and David Hildebrand, also at UK,
wrote. I respect both of these people very much even though I hardly ever
agree with them! Their intentions are excellent, their knowledge is deep.
