Drift is a huge problem here Luckily a really good stand of very invasive
sumac has taken

This winter it was easy to visualize wind distribution when it blew a
neighbors winter spread manure over the white snow. The closest portion of
his field is 1/4 mile away through 40-50' high dense woods. The median
discolored snow at our place measured 6.95% manure by weight when the
moisture was evaporated off (3 7/8 cup volume manure per 5 gal discolored
snow). Though spray mist may be better intercepted by vegetation during
active growth than particles in the winter don't be too confident about your
sumac barrier.
